Hey, Four Eyes!

Today I'm officially a blogger.  I mean, you can't be considered one
until Firmoo wants your opinion on some glasses, can you?!

Don't mind my frizzball, scary hair.  It was sprinkling and yucky outside.

To say I was excited when Firmoo contacted me is a major understatement.  As someone who's tried (and failed) wearing contacts, I was pretty thrilled at a chance for some new specs.

Here's what Firmoo has to say:

Any hot glasses/sunglasses /goggles frames you want can be found on Firmoo, and all are available for both prescription lenses and non-prescription lenses. Are you desperate to have a new look? Now here is the chance, Firmoo has launched a First Pair Free Program to people worldwide. You will absolutely fall in love with the excellent quality, affordable prices, fashionable designs, fast delivery and the good service after trying them with paying shipping only! You even can get a refund/exchange if you are not satisfied with them. It's totally Risk free, so why not have a try?
Click here (http://www.firmoo.com/free-glasses.html) to get your free glasses now!

After picking out the pair I wanted, the glasses arrived within about a week.  That's seriously awesome
news considering they are based out of China.

The package included a hard case, a soft carrying case, a cleaning cloth and a mini screwdriver
 with a few extra screws.

So far, so good!

LOVE that it came with a hard case.  God knows what things wind up
in my purse, so it's nice not to worry about smashing my glasses.

Also, guys, I've been wearing prescription glasses for quite some time.  I've
had brand name, off brand, you name it.

The quality of these glasses blew me away.  I currently own a pair of Marc Jacobs
glasses that I paid upward of $300, and the Firmoo pair is just as good, if not better.

They aren't flimsy AT ALL and they look like I should have paid a lot of $$$.

Another perk of the website is they feature Virtual Try-On.  I had about 3 pairs
in mind, but after using the Try-on tool, I went with these.  Lifesaver.

The best part about Firmoo?  They offer everyone the chance to get their
first pair of glasses free, you only pay shipping!
You can choose either prescription (or not) glasses or sunglasses.

You really can't beat that.  So go HERE and get yourself a pair, you won't be
disappointed.  (In the rare event you are, they offer exchanges and refunds!)

*While Firmoo did provide me with the glasses  reviewed, opinions are always 100% mine.

2 Months

Little bug is 2 months! Ok, so I'm a little late....like a week, whoops!

J got his daddy's nose.  Lucky poor guy.

At 2 months you are:

Smilin' like it's your job.  Usually right after meals you give us that gummy grin.

Still not willing to be by yourself.  If you're not in our arms you are crying.
Please stop.

Sleeping more and more at night.  Thank the Lord above.  You're only waking
about once to nurse now.  Mama's boobs thank you, little one.

Making THE best faces.  You raise your eyebrows at us, stick your tongue out (oh that little tongue),
smile, and make a sad little pout face.

A cuddling, nuzzling, sweet little bundle.
{Don't ever stop!}

Mom Stuff

Having a newborn has got me thinkin' about this whole mom business.

I'm pretty sure when my kids are in their teens, I'll look back on this post and laugh my ass off.

See, being a parent is no cake walk, my dear friends.  Not one bit.  There are the teething times, the terrible 2's (which should be called the terrible 2-18's, or so I've heard) and I'd be pretty rich if I had a nickel for every morning Liam tried to convince me to homeschool him.

But with that being said, I can honestly say it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life.

You can't get the rainbow without the sunshine.  Or so I've heard.

Here are some reasons I love being a mom:

You get horrible awesome gifts.  It's pretty easy to pretend to like something when
you see the look on their face as you open their present.

My own personal photographer.  Do you know how many pictures of my cat/framed pictures/toys
I have on my camera? Approximately 5489.  I die laughing everytime I go through the pictures after
my five year old got ahold of it.  But you know what, when he's taking pictures, he's SO into it.
Maybe he'll make mama some money one day!

Sharing new experiences.  Now obviously I've seen my fair share of fires, but this little guy?
It's so amazing to watch them see or do something for the first time.  Even the smallest things like seeing a dog for the first time, learning to ride a bike or seeing that first
newborn gummy smile.  Makes my frigid heart melt, I tell ya.

Holidays.  I've always, always been huge into decorating for holidays but now that
I've got kids I love it even more.  Steve and I spent well over $400 just for Halloween decorations.
Pretty ridiculous, but at the same time...I love it.  Growing up my mom made
every little holiday a big deal, so it's nice to pass that on to my family.

If Liam's taught me one thing, it's how to be a total goofball and not give
two shits what anyone says about it.  Mouse ears to the park? Why the hell not?! Dancing around the living room like a crazy person? Yes please.  Life's too short not to laugh at yourself sometimes.

A - Z of Yours Truly

So I've seen the whole A - Z thing on a few blogs lately, and since I never did a formal intro post, I figured I'd hop on the ol' wagon.

A is for age:  26 with an 80 year old's tendencies, although sometimes I think I'm still 21.
Homemade moonshine.  Hey, I never claimed to be classy.

B is for breakfast today: Grilled Cheese.  I never claimed to be healthy, either.

C is for Childhood Friend: Bianca.  We've been friends for 19 years. Crazy.
That girl on the left is the bees knees.

D is for drink of choice: Jameson & Pepsi. Budweiser's good too.

E is for favorite type of exercise: The only exercise you'll see me doing is walking.  From the couch to the kitchen.  Sometimes to my bedroom.

F is for an irrational fear: Driving next to semi's.  I speed past them like it's my job. Also, dirt devils.  No, not the vacuum.

G is for gross food: Cottage cheese, mustard, mushrooms

H is for hometown: Tempe, AZ

I is for something important: Steve & my kiddos. Lord knows what I'd do without 'em.

J is for current favorite jam: T-Swift "Begin Again".  Yes, she's cray, but homegirl can sing.

K is for kids: 2 boys Liam and Jackson.

L is for current location: Armchair.  Living Room.  Gilbert, AZ.

M is for the most recent way you spent money: Forever21.com Extra 1/2 off sale items!

N is for something you need: a trip to the dentist

O is for occupation: Bartender/server
I miss my work buddy

P is for pet peeve: People who interrupt/talk over me, bad turners (coming to a complete stop when making a turn), when S grabs my ass in public.

Q is for a quote: My favorite...forever and ever and ever, amen.
"Relationships don't work the way they do on television and in the movies. Will they? Won't they? And then they finally do, and they're happy forever. Gimme a break. Nine out of ten of them end because they weren't right for each other to begin with, and half of the ones who get married get divorced anyway, and I'm telling you right now, through all this stuff, I have not become a cynic, I haven't. Yes, I do happen to believe that love is mainly about pushing chocolate covered candies and, y'know, in some cultures, a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don't care, because I do believe in it. Bottom line is: it's couples who are truly right for each other wade through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time. If it's right, and they're real lucky, one of them will say something." - Dr Cox, Scrubs
R is for random fact about you: I'm stubborn.  My way or the highway, folks.

S is for favorite healthy snack: hmm...granola bars?

T is for favorite treat: Does alcohol count?

U is for something that makes you unique: I have crazy long toes.

V is for favorite vegetable: Cucumbers

W is for today’s workout: Yeah, ok.

X is for X-rays you’ve had: wrist, chest, do sonograms count?

Y is for yesterday’s highlight: I didn't get out of bed.  Not once.

Z is for your time zone: MST

There you have it.  There's more than you probably ever
wanted to know.  You're welcome.

Finally Friday

Hello pretty ladies!

So I spent all day yesterday thinking it was Friday....and was bummed every time I realized it wasn't.

But today it is friday {yay!} and that means the weekend is pretty much here, and since I'm a SAHM that means absolutely nothing.

Speaking of being a SAHM, I'm not sure how long that's gonna last.  See, I worked at a bar before I had Jackson and the entire time I was pregnant they were bugging me, asking when I was going to come back.  I spoke to one of the managers yesterday and I think I'm looking at going back (part time) in February :/  Super nervous about it.

Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have such a wonderful man in my life? I have? Oh, well too bad cause I'm gonna say it again!  On top of owning his own business and sub-contracting through another company, this dude started ANOTHER job working for Harley Davidson.
Yep, I'm an official "old lady" now haha.  Yes, him having a job where he actually has to leave the house kind of sucks (we miss him dearly) it has its perks.  Working for RideNow, we'd only have to pay $100 over invoice on things like boats, quads, bikes etc.  I'm completely ok with all that.  Not really sure if I actually have any readers in AZ, but if you are and you (ya little vixens) or someone you know is looking to buy a motorcycle, he's the guy to talk to.
<end>Obsessed, proud girlfriend craziness. ;)

Since it's friday, and since these tacos are the best tacos I've ever made/eaten, I'm sharing a little recipe with ya. I'll never go back to seasoning packets.  My favorite part of it?  Separating the spices on the plate before mixing 'em in.  Love the colors!
Photo and recipe here

You'll need:
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (more or less depending on how spicy you want it. I use 1/8 tsp)
Mix ingredients and add to meat before cooking

I'm also super excited today because I won a giveaway for ad space and a target gift card from Whitney over at Sippy Cups and Pearls!
Thanks so much Melissa and Whitney!

Well that's all I got, I hope ya'll have an exciting weekend!

How I Know I'm Getting Old

It's true, I'm only 26, but I swear sometimes I feel like I'm 70.  This is probably really dorky, but I was am a huge video game nerd.  Video games are something my son and I shared a love for (I don't have much time these days to play games) and sometimes talking to my 5 year old feels like I'm conversing with someone from Japan.  I dont know about you, but watching the New Years special was really confusing!  I kept asking "who is that" and googling every 10 minutes.

So here's a little list of reasons I'm 26 going on 70:

Please for the love of god someone explain this to me.  I've watched videos, I've googled and I'm still so confused.  Why is this such a big thing?! Who is this?!  Why is that person now super rich for dancing like he's riding a horse??? I don't get it!

The hashtag.  I get why they're used on twitter, I mean at least I think I know why people use them on twitter.  But why are these being used on Facebook, Instagram, e-mails, snail mail and every other form of communication??!!  I really need to know why I even get text messages with hashtags in them.
ok, just googled why they're used on instagram and I'm excited about this.

My New Years Eve.  We had offers to babysit from 3 different people and what did we do??  Stayed in, had a half glass of champagne and passed out.  A year ago I would have jumped at the chance to go out and get my drink on.  These days, not so much.

Speaking of getting my drink on, I did just that the night before New Years Eve and had a two day hangover.  I shit you not, people.  Two days of a horrible headache, chills, dizziness and repeating over and over how "I'm never drinking again."  Yeah, we'll see how that plays out.

Wtf is this?  While I'm about to start shelling out money to cover my 11 gray hairs (and growing) girlfriend is spending money to cover her head in gray?  I'm not understanding.  Plus, it actually looks pretty good on her which pisses me off even more.

I'm starting to think (and worry) about retirement.  Yes, it's true I don't work right now, and yes it's true the job I'll probably be going back to doesn't offer 401K or any type of benefits, but I'm scared, people!  I don't want to be one of those door greeters at Walmart when I'm 75.  No offense to any door greeters out there, but when I'm 60+ I want to be relaxing, enjoying my husband, my kids and my grandkids.  I don't have any type of savings at all and this year I decided is the year to get serious about saving.  You just never know!

Anyone else out there feel me on any of this?

Don't it make you wanna dance

I don't think I'm alone in saying I LOVE music.  Music, so much like scent, can transport you back to a time or memory in an instant.  Certain songs/artists bring on a flood of emotion as I'm carried back to a time I'd tucked in the back of my mind.

Reba.  She will forever and ever remind me of my mama.  My parents were really unhappy in their marriage, and I remember my mom listening to Reba's heartache songs all the time.  A few years ago I bought me and my mom tickets to Reba and George Strait, and it makes me so happy I could share that with her.

Speaking of George Strait, the first time Steve and I danced (we were only friends at the time) was to The Chair, my very favorite Strait song.  Everytime I hear it I remember exactly how I felt, like we were the only ones in the room, steadily guiding him (he's not big on dancing) and feeling a little ashamed of myself for feeling that way.  I was involved with someone at the time, but there was no ignoring the chemistry between us.  (For the record, Steve and I weren't involved until things ended with the other person.  I'm no ho!)

Don't Rock the Jukebox by Alan Jackson.  Ever since Liam could talk he's been obsessed with that song.  He used to think the words were don't rock the juicebox.  Funniest thing ever.  We got to see him at Country Thunder last year, but Liam was so exhausted he missed his song :(

Those are my main examples for ya.  The emotions, sounds, smells, I remember everything about past memories when I hear those songs.  Such a great feeling of nostalgia.

I'd love to hear your songs!  Maybe some of you have a song that reminds you of falling in love for the first time, or a first heartbreak?  I live for these type of stories!

Random Wednesday

First post in the new year, and couldn't think of a better way to start than with a random Wednesday!

1.  Resolutions - I've been thinking really hard about things I want to accomplish in 2013, places I want to go, things I wanna do.  Here's the short version:  Save more money, visit Hawaii, cook healthier meals, be more patient.

2.  I am tired.  Not like, I need a 15 minute pick me up, more like I need to slip into a coma and sleep for a week tired.  Not sure if it's because I'm older now or what, but I don't remember babies being this exhausting!  My first was sleeping pretty much through the night by 6 weeks, and our newest is a tough little cookie to get down to bed.  He fights it and fights it with all he's got.  Give mama a break, Jackson!

3.  My stepsons wedding is in March (I know, it sounds weird I have a stepson older than I am) and I'm at a loss at what to wear.  Obviously, I want to look conservative, but not too stuffy! I live in AZ people, we'll probably already be sweating.  Ideas are encouraged!

My fave pic of Liam and I

4.  I need the beach and I need it now.  Hopefully, if all goes according to plan we'll be vacationing in Hawaii later in the year.  I need tropical, I need mai tais, I need sand between my toes and sun on my skin.

5.  On another note, I haven't been on an airplane in 12 years.  I'm terrified.  Being an adult kind of sucks in that way, things that never bothered or worried me when I was younger are now some of the things I'm afraid of most.  Like flying, and driving on the freeway.  One of my silliest fears? Dust devils.  AZ being a desert and all, there are a ton of them when driving in certain areas and they scare me to no end.  Probably has something to do with the tornado that touched down less than a mile from my home when I lived in Iowa.

Short and sweet guys!  Hope everyone's year is starting out with a bang!
